Manchester United are confident of signing Alexis Sanchez in the January window, according to Sky Sports News.
Sky Sources say that the Red Devils are in pole position to sign the 29-year-old, with Jose Mourinho’s team beating Manchester City to Sanchez’s signature.
Apparently, United are set to offer Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of any deal as somewhat of a sweetener, which obviously means that Arsenal will have a direct replacement due to the like-for-like switch.
United are willing to make Sanchez the highest-paid player in the Premier League by some distance with a £400,000-a-week contract.
Mourinho’s side are also ready to pay £30m to Arsenal, which is only £5m below the Gunners’ asking price. According to Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, United have reached an agreement with Sanchez and his representatives.
City, meanwhile, have fallen well short of Arsenal’s £35m valuation with a £20m bid and are unwilling to increase their salary offer to Sanchez, which currently stands at £290,000-a-week.
